About the event
Ex-Isles is an avant-pop duo of singer/composer Peter Devlin and experimental composer Jamie Thompson (Adjunct Ensemble). The swooning fatalism of their songs explore the hypocrisies of nationalism, the tragic figures of the displaced, and our growing alienation from agency over our lives under capitalism. Their sound, on albums Luxury Mass (2018) and Domestic Sacraments (2023), is a nod to enigmatic pop figures like Scott Walker, David Sylvian, and late-era David Bowie; a captivating blend of slippery arrangements and crooning baritone.
Ticket price is £13. The event is seated and includes a complementary glass of wine. Doors open for the music from 8pm, but the space is open to the public beforehand (4pm-8pm) for an art exhibition by Irish artist Ruairi Fallon. His new exhibition 'Scattered Broken Maybe' at La Roche House will showcase a kaleidoscopic world of colourful woodblock prints, created in Vietnam, where the artist now lives and works.
